Start Here

The Start Here guide is intended to get you working with ModelSim 5.3 as quickly

as possible. If you are upgrading to ModelSim 5.3 you’ll be ready to simulate once

you’ve installed ModelSim and refreshed your libraries.

Note that if you are upgrading from PE 4.7 you will also need to convert your

macros (do files). If you’re not upgrading, go directly to licensing and installation.

Follow the links below to begin.

If you are upgrading, we recommend that you install ModelSim 5.3 in a new

directory to avoid overwriting your old files and libraries.

Are you upgrading to ModelSim 5.3?

When you upgrade to 5.3, you’ll need to regenerate your design libraries and, if

you’re upgrading from PE 4.7, convert your macros. Follow the links below to

get started.
